Sorry–I thought it was already mentioned repeatedly, though. In nay case, I’ll be more careful (Reggie, if you’re reading this, could you let us edit our own posts? This would help, evne though I guess I should be smart enough to do this on my own)
Shaunsnoll–re: calls. I won’t argue, but surely at some price level you’d be willing to consider selling them, no? If so, at what price?
Alternatively (and much more safely), you might want to consider selling puts on stock that you’d be willing to hold (if there are any). The premiums would probably do you good, even if you get “put” the stock.
its my view that selling naked options works great. and then it works great. and then you get carried out on a stretcher. i would rather position myself for amazing payoffs rather than position myself for amazing losses with limited upside. its my view that human’s systematically under estimate the odds of unusual events and i’d rather exploit that than fall victim to our biological weakness so i would pretty much never ever sell naked calls really at any price just on principle. of course at some absoltuely stupid price i’d be on it, like if someone wanted to buy a call option strike 100$ on a 10$ stock and they would be willing to pay 100000000$ i’d probably do that. but honestly, i think selling naked calls with no hedge is crazy. i guess it works for some people but not for me. i intend to be in this trading game for a long time and selling naked options carries the possibility, however remote, of ruining your entire account instantly.
