GE raising Capital?

Reggie,

There is a lot of gossip and rumour in London regarding GE raising cash via a rights issue. Do you have the same rumours in NY?

The options market appears to be getting more interested in shorting GE, do you believe that more downgrades are in the offing?

Best regards,

The other shoe for GE is so much of their manufactured products segment are dependent on credit. think jet engines, locomotives, etc. Interesting their getting out of consumer appliances in that context. - Robert Cote

Hi Reggie, love your work, but the real question: Is GE a triple-A credit?!!! - ec

No more nonsense than any other crystal ball metric. ;D
I will be using a "sum of the parts" methodology for GE and probably attack each part individually. I may not continue all the way through, contingent upon what I find and price movement of the stock as I progress.

Nice Analysis

Reggie,

Thanks for the detailed analysis, do you think that Immelt will write down his assets to the required level this quarter, or massage the figures to save his job?

GE is an extremely difficult corp to value, owing to its diversity, but a P/E of 12, is probably realistic, owing to its financial exposure. This is trailing P/E, as forward looking P/E's are nonsense. - Chris Marshall
